The annual celebration of reading and books takes place in Washington, DC at the Library of Congress National Book Festival on Saturday, August 30. Book lovers of all ages come together to hear presentations from their favorite authors and illustrators, get their books signed, and take part in fun activities. Scouts can buy the 2014 Library of Congress National Book Festival patch to proudly show off their attendance at this exciting educational event in the nation’s capital.

Girl Scout Engineering Saturday (GSES) is a program for local Girl Scout troops in Maryland and the Washington metropolitan area. Cadettes and Seniors (grades 6-10) engage in fun hands-on activities and earn the Women in Engineering Girl Scout Engineering Saturday patch. This program is offered twice a year in February and October. There is a $10 registration fee for each participant to cover lunch and the cost of patches.
