Mandatory Virtual Parent Meeting, Sep 20, 10AM

As Salaam Alaikum PGMA Girl Scout Family,

It has been a unique time, but we are very excited to start the 2020 -2021 Girl Scout year inshaAllah. InshaAllah parents and troop leaders can work together in the upcoming year to create fun and engaging activities that help our girls become girls of faith, courage, confidence and character, in spite of the challenges.

We will have a mandatory virtual parent meeting on Sunday, September 20 at 10AM, for the parents of all Girl Scouts currently registered with the multi-level troops at PGMA. Please contact your troop leader to get the link for the parent meeting. This meeting is for parents of returning girls only; Girl Scouts should not attend. We will not be accepting new registrations at this meeting.

Parents should come prepared to take on volunteer positions. We can’t move forward as a troop this year without your support. Here are the descriptions of positions our troops need to help make this year a success:

Troop Leaders: All troop leaders encourage girls to build confidence while trying new things. By coordinating a team of volunteers, leaders can help everyone contribute. This position requires membership registration, background screening, and Basic Leadership and Program Level training to
uphold the safety of girls.

Troop Money Manager: This dependable person helps open and manage the troop checking account and supports the troop committee with reimbursements. They engage the girls in goal setting and budgeting, and are key to the financial integrity of the troop. This position requires membership registration, background screening, and training from the service unit money manager.

Troop Cookie Manager: This seasonal position guides the next generation of financially savvy business leaders and helps girls set and achieve goals through the Cookie Program. This position requires membership registration, background screening, and training which is provided by the Service Unit Cookie Manager.

Troop Fall Product Sales Chair: This volunteer provides girl program and money-earning for troops as they start the fall and make their yearly plans. This position requires membership registration, background screening, and training which is provided by the service unit fall product chair.

Troop First Aider: A volunteer with current certification in first aid and CPR can support the troop as a first aider. Council-sponsored training is available or may be taken through another organization. This
position requires membership registration, current certification, and background screening. Certified and/or licensed healthcare providers may also serve as first aiders for the troop: physician, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, paramedic, military medic, and emergency medical technician.

Troop Cookout or Cookout & Campout Qualified Volunteer: This person supports the troop in outdoor cooking by taking a Basic Cookout class or takes the Cookout and Campout class to learn how to help girls plan, prepare and enjoy an overnight camping experience. This position requires membership registration, background screening, and a one-time training to qualify.

Troop SHARE Leader: This volunteer position ensures all family members have the opportunity to donate through our annual giving campaign. In this campaign, troops help achieve a service unit goal through 75% individual gifts and 25% from other methods. This position requires membership
registration, background screening, and training which is provided by the Development department.

See you (virtually) this Sunday at 10AM inshaAllah!
