Reminder: Troop Meeting Tomorrow, Friday, Mar 1

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, Mar 1, 2019, 6 – 8PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:15PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will have a self-defense & martial arts workshop and introduction to the Wonders of Water (WOW) journey.
  • This Saturday, March 2, at 9AM, Brownies will attend Girl Scout Day at the Newseum. Meet at the Newseum’s main entrance on Pennsylvania Avenue. Together as a group, we can experience the special scheduled events they have prepared for the day.

JUNIORS

  • A naturalist from Mount Rainier Nature Center will join the Junior troop meeting and help the girls earn their Animal Habitats badge inshaAllah.
  • Parents: Please pay your Junior Girl Scout’s dues at this Friday’s troop meeting: $50.

SENIORS & AMBASSADORS

  • Girls should bring their Gold Award information/ideas/concepts and continue the process of filling out the Gold Award Application.
  • Also, those girls needing to complete Take Action projects should come with their ideas.
  • On March 20, 2019, Seniors and Ambassadors will be hosting a Self-Defense Workshop at PGMA with Kamilah Khabir, an international martial arts competitor. ONLY 30 SLOTS ARE AVAILABLE, so while this event is open to all Girl Scouts (Daisy – Ambassador), Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors get priority attendance. The workshop duration is 2 – 5PM and cost $10. A light lunch will be provided. Permission forms will be available at this Friday’s troop meeting inshaAllah.

PARENTS

  • Parents should see the Snack Mom during the troop meeting to sign up to bring snacks for upcoming troop meetings inshaAllah.
  • Important: Please turn in health forms and troop dues ($50/Girl Scout; $40/Daisy) for your Girl Scout.

Reminder: World Thinking Day Celebration, Friday, Feb 22

As salaamu alaikum,

Several PGMA troops will be participating in the Service Unit World Thinking Day Celebration today, Friday, February 22, 2019, at Robert Goddard Montessori School, 6:30 – 9PM. Here are a few reminders for specific troops.

JUNIORS

  • Bring Junior permission forms and payments; $5 for Juniors whose dues are paid (or made a partial payment), otherwise $10.
  • Wear comfortable clothing and vest OR the Costa Rican scout uniform.
  • Bring at least three (3) coins. The coins will be used in an activity that is part of earning the Girl Scout Way badge. Coins will also be donated for repairs to the four WAGGGS World Centers in England, India, Mexico, and Switzerland.

CADETTES

  • Each Cadette should bring what she is responsible for regarding the Cadette booth (display board, food, swaps or decorations/supplies). Download, complete and turn in Cadette permission forms to Sister Hayat at the event.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will preparing to participate in the Service Unit World Thinking Day celebration on next Friday, February 22 inshaAllah. Girls should check out these videos to learn more about the country the troop will present: Costa Rica!
  • Turn in permission forms and payments for the World Thinking Day celebration; $5 for Juniors whose dues are paid (or made a partial payment), otherwise $10.
  • Parents: Please pay your Junior Girl Scout’s dues at this Friday’s troop meeting: $50.

CADETTES

  • Cadettes will be planning for our proposed participation in World Thinking Day with the Service Unit next Friday, February 22. Please come with ideas of what country you would like the troop to present along with any ideas for activities and food related to the country you are proposing.

SENIORS & AMBASSADORS

  • World Thinking Day: InshaAllah, we will be choosing a country and preparing for the event.
  • Badge work: The girls who have sewing machines should bring them. We will be learning how to use a measuring tape, thread a machine, and stitch. Make sure all parts are with the machine you bring.
  • STEAM training: Anyone wanting to participate in the summer STEAM program needs to send applications to Nuri Kemet.
  • Gold Award: For those girls interested in going for their Gold Award, please bring your proposal idea so you can begin the process of applying.

PARENTS
