Asalaamu Alaikum
Cadettes had a great first troop meeting alhamdullilah.
They were given contact information for the girls in their troop. Each girl should have an email address so they can communicate with each other on projects. Girls should also sign up to receive blog updates from PGMAGirlScouts.org.
The Cadette’s accomplishments thus far:
- Picked a troop crest: The Crain. Parents should purchase this patch to go on their uniforms with the flag, council patch and troop numbers
- Created Troop Rules: These are mutual rules of engagement. At the next meeting the girls will sign off on these rules in agreement.
- Our Troop Scribe this month is Asiya K.
Topics for the meetings up to December so girls can prepare ahead of time:
October 24: Girl Scouts Traditions (GS Way Badge)
Search the internet for GS traditions (songs, programs, signs, activities) as well as the GS Cadette Guide book. Know the GS promise.
November 7: Budgeting Badge (Financial Literacy) with Sis. Zakiya Zaid
A great reference for the financial literacy badges is A Smart Girl’s Guide to Money: How to Make It, Save It, and Spend It by Nancy Holyoke.
November 21: Girl Guiding and WAGGS (GS Way Badge)
Search WAGGS at http://www.wagggs.org/en/home and bring information about one country’s Girl Guides, e.g: country, language spoken, name of Girl Guides in your age group, description of their uniform (or bring a picture)
December 19: Financing My Dream Badge (Financial Literacy) with Sis. Zakiya Zaid
Pick an international or domestic destination here: http://forgirls.girlscouts.org/travel/take-a-trip/destinations/. Make sure you have information about the cost per girl in US currency (you might have to convert it), transportation, whether a passport is needed, program dates. How you will pay for the trip?
Prior preparation prevents poor performance. Be prepared, Girls!
