Brownie Historical Interpretation at Riley’s Lockhouse, Nov 3

Brownies will be heading to Riley’s Lockhouse on Sunday, November 3, 12 noon to 4PM, to act as docents by telling the stories of the people who once lived and worked there. Girls will dress in authentic period clothing and share the history of the Riley home and demonstrate daily chores from 19th century Maryland, like washing clothes, making butter, singing, playing games, or making corn husk dolls.

Sis Whittni will help Brownies prepare to give the historical interpretation tour by teaching them all about Riley’s Lockhouse, its history and life during Victorian-era Maryland. Girls will also get measured for the period clothing they will wear. Participation is optional, but for girls who want to take part, let Sis Huda know immediately. By getting prepared at the troop meeting and then acting as docents at Riley’s Lockhouse, Brownies will have the opportunity to earn the My Great Day, Dancer, Hiker, Household Elf and Snacks badges.

Download, print, complete and then turn in permission forms to a Brownie troop leader at this Friday’s troop meeting inshaAllah. Girl health forms must be on file with a troop leader in order to attend.
