Reminder: Meet a Girl Scout Muslimah Interfaith Outreach THIS SATURDAY, May 14

As a part of earning their My Promise, My Faith pin, PGMA Girl Scouts are reaching out to local Girl Scouts of other faiths. Our goal is to combat Islamophobia by educating our sister Girl Scouts about Islam and Muslims through song, informative presentations, a tea party, a tour of the impressive Diyanet Center campus, and, of course, SWAPS!

PGMA Girl Scouts should wear their full uniform (white scarf, white shirt & khaki pants or khaki jilbab) and uniform vest. Bring an extra scarf in case one of our guests forgets or does not have one. Girls should arrive at 10:30AM to set up and be prepared to leave at 2:30PM after cleaning up. No tagalongs please.

Parking & Building Location: Use the underground parking entrance opposite 100th Avenue. Once you enter underground parking, the entrance to the Guest House is the first door on the right. Take the elevator to the first floor. The program will be in the Guest House Cafeteria.

Bring $2 (exact change, please) to purchase an optional fun patch for the event.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will be doing an arts and craft project while practicing the nasheed for the May 14 performance at our troop’s interfaith outreach event. Girls should learn/practice Tala Badru Alayna.
  • Since there will only be one more troop meeting after this Friday, Brownies who have not yet turned in their scrapbook or completed their song assignment for the Quest Journey Take Action project should do so at this troop meeting.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will be practicing their presentations on notable Muslim women for the troop interfaith outreach event on May 14 inshaAllah.

CADETTES

  • Troop meeting fun day! Wear work out / comfortable clothes for Science of Happiness & Eating for Beauty with Sis Tracey Abdul-Wahab of It’s All Food LLC. Girls who have not earned the badges will have take home work which will be due at the next (and final) troop meeting.
  • Breathe Journey Take Action project: Cadettes should bring their updates on what is the plan, who is participating, how girls will achieve it, and when it will happen.
