Girl Scout Ambassador Abrar Omeish Shares a Message of Peace

The Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital hosted an Interfaith Service as one of the signature events celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Girl Scouts. The video of the service at the National Cathedral is a must-see for every girl scout, but Girl Scout Ambassador Abrar Omeish touched our hearts because of how she so poignantly related a verse from the Holy Quran to the Girl Scout Law.

O mankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other not that you may despise each other. Verily, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is he who is the most righteous of you, and Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted with all things.
Surah Al Hujurat, verse 13

Watch the whole thing — it is truly a beautiful experience — but if you’re pressed for time, check out Omeish at minute 36:05.

It’s Our Planet, Love It!

Troop 3480’s summer theme is: It’s Your Planet, Love It!

Through girl scouting, girls see the earth as their home. Whether they are
learning about endangered wildlife, developing creative recycling projects, or
working towards earned grade-level awards, girls focus on care, conservation,
and responsibility. They ensure the safety of our planet for future generations.

PGMA Girl Scouts will be initiating a Green Recycling Initiative at the Masjid. Interested in contributing ideas to this green initiative? Contact Troop Manager Sr. Alia at alia [dot] kemet [at] gmail [dot] com.
