Today’s troop meeting is cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. PGMA Girl Scouts follow PG County Schools’ inclement weather schedule. The Investiture & Rededication Ceremony will rescheduled for our next regularly scheduled troop meeting on Friday, Jan. 17, inshaAllah.

This Friday, January 3, 2014, will be our Troop’s Investiture and Rededication ceremony.
Investiture welcomes new members, girls or adults, into the Girl Scout family for the first time. Girls receive their Girl Scout, Girl Scout Brownie, or Girl Scout Daisy pin at this time. The Rededication is an opportunity for girls and adults to renew their commitment to the Girl Scout Promise and Law, including girl scouts who have recently transferred to Troop 3480 from other troops.
Each level’s program will take place in their individual room. Times of each levels ceremony will be posted at sign-in. We are asking parents to bring a dish for this special occasion.
Girls should be on time and in full uniform. Remember: the Uniform Stars program is an on-going effort.
Special Instructions for Juniors: The Juniors have three special guests who have been invited! Juniors should wear their uniform vest, white headscarf, white shirt, and a skirt of any color. Otherwise girls can wear an overgarment of any color over which they can fit their uniform vest. No pants or tennis shoes, please. Juniors should also remember to bring a dish that they prepared themselves. Here is our list of foods so far. If your name is not on the list, please bring a vegetable dish, drink, rice dish, or salad. Write a decorative label to sit in front of your dish.

Friday, December 20, is the last meeting of 2013. Here is what’s happening:
2013-14 Cookie Season Begins
Cookies sales begin this Friday. Parents must attend a Parent Cookie Meeting with the Cookie Mom, Zakiya, at 6:30PM to sign the Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capital paperwork if their girls want to sell cookies.
Trip Permission Slips & Payments
This Friday is the last day to turn in money for Winter Wonders Walks at Camp Winona on Jan. 18. This is a pre-paid event so there will be no refunds. All questions about trips should go to Sis. Kesha via email or phone. Please do not call her the day of a trip because permission slips are not accepted the day of events.
Investiture & Rededication
On Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 — our first troop meeting of 2014 — we will be pinning new girls and troop leaders, and rededicating girls to Girl Scout Troop 3480. This is one of the many ceremonies in Girl Scouts and we invite parents to join us. Certificates and patches will be presented to girls whose parents have paid dues. (Dues are $45 per girl per year and go towards the purchase of pins, badges and patches, and also supplement trip fees.)
