Chesapeake Bay STEMfest, Feb 6 (J/C/S)

girlsHeartSTEM This exciting program provides girls in grades 4 – 10 with hands-on, fun STEM activities and opportunities to interact with women role models in STEM careers. Includes information sessions for parents. Bring your whole troop! You do not need to be a Girl Scout to attend.

NOTE: Parents are encouraged to attend and do not need to pay fee. Min 14/Max 50

Camp Clue, Apr 2 – 3 (J/C)

Come spend the night at Camp Conowingo and see if you have what it takes to become a real forensic scientist. Throughout the two days, girls will solve a “Whodunnit?” mystery by taking fingerprints, investigating trace evidence, and analyzing crime scene elements. Girl Scout Juniors will earn their Detective badge from the Get Moving Journey and Girl Scout Cadettes will earn their Special Agent Badge from the Breathe Journey.

NOTES: This is an out of council event, so there will be no refunds after confirmation. Dues must be paid in full to camp. This event is primarily for girls who have not earned the badges mentioned above.

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be this Friday, Jan 1, 2016, 6 – 7:30PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:30PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

Take a moment to note the dates of troop meetings for the next three months:

January 15, 29
February 12, 26
March 11, 25

BROWNIES

Brownies should bring their Brownie Quest Journey book to the troop meeting and be prepared to go over homework on pages 54 & 55.
Brownies will be brainstorming Take Action Project ideas as well as deciding on the next badge they’d like to earn.

JUNIORS

Juniors who attended the horseback riding clinic at Beech Grove Farm should bring in a thank you note for Mrs. Anita.
Juniors should bring in their fitness goal for the Practice with a Purpose badge. Hanan will be sharing her fitness goal with the group, so bring a hoola hoop if you have one.

CADETTES

Girls should bring in their own astronomy-inspired artwork as the final part of the Night Owl badge.

PARENTS

Pay your Girl Scout’s troop dues: $45 for Daisies, $60 for all other levels. If needed, dues can be paid in installments. Dues pay for badges and pins, help supplement some activities/trips, and also help support the troop web site, and printing expenses. (Parents pay for fun patches.) In order to camp, dues must be paid in full. For financial assistance contact Sis. Kesha.

Registration opens January 26 at 10:00am for Camps Winona and Coles trip; and January 28 at 10:00 am for Camps Potomac Woods and May Flather. Camp programs should be chosen based on the grade your Girl Scout is currently in. Financial assistance is available.
