On Your Own: High Adventure Workshop at Camp Winona, Apr. 27

archery-target-bullseyeJoin Troop 1556 for a High Adventure Workshop at Camp Winona. There will be 3 2-hour archery sessions and 3 2-hour canoeing sessions with a limit of 15 girls each. A patch and a snack are included. Parent Permission forms and Health History forms are required. Proceeds from this event are being used as a troop money earning event for a trip to Florida 2014. Girl Scout programs fill up fast. Sign up now!

On Your Own: Junior & Brownie First Aid Badge at Camp Winona, Mar. 8

juniorFirstAidBadgeJunior and Brownie Girl Scouts can earn their First Aid Badge at Camp Winona on March 8, 2014. Girls can learn valuable, potentially life-saving skills while helping Ambassador Troop 1870 fundraise for their final trip to Adventures on the Gorge in West Virginia.

The Brownie program sign is promptly at 8:45AM and the program lasts from 9AM – 12 Noon. Junior sign in is at 12:45PM and the program is from 1 – 4PM. Girls must register by February 26, 2014 to receive a badge on March 8. Download the registration form and contact the following for additional information:

On Your Own: Discover Engineering Family Day, 22 Feb.

FY13DiscoverEngineeringFamilyDayScouts are welcome at Discover Engineering Family Day! Activities at the festival may assist scouts in fulfilling some requirements for the following badges:

Brownie Girl Scouts: Building Art, Science in Action, Listening to the Past

Junior Girl Scouts: Aerospace, Science Discovery, Discovering Technology, Sky Search, Careers

Scout groups may stop by the scout check-in table for a worksheet that has a full list of which activities correspond with badges at Discover Engineering Family Day.

Discover Engineering Family Day is a FREE, drop-in program. Program and activities are most appropriate for children ages 4 to 12 with adult supervision. Registration is not required.

At Discover Engineering Family Day visitors can:

FLY Become a rocket scientist and explore aerodynamics
BUILD Learn to build a suspension bridge using only basic items
EXPLORE Discover the concepts of mechanics and motion using a wind tube
MAKE slime and learn the properties of a “semisolid”
DESIGN and construct a structure to help protect from a tsunami
INVENT a pop-fly lever and see how high it launches a ping pong ball
MEET an astronaut
DISCOVER alongside Curious George and Cat in the Hat from WETA and PBSKids
