On Your Own: THIS SATURDAY – Discover Engineering Family Day, Feb 28

NBMLogoSmallEvery February, the National Building Museum and the National Engineers Week Foundation invite you to debunk the myths of engineering and discover how professional engineers turn ideas into reality. Celebrate Engineers Week by participating in this free, hands-on, and fun-filled festival. Explore thermodynamics, electricity, aerodynamics, and more with engineers at more than 25 activity tables and demonstrations made especially for kids.

Discover Engineering Family Day is a FREE, drop-in program. $5 donation suggested. Program and activities are most appropriate for children ages 6 to 12 with adult supervision. Registration is not required.

This year at Discover Engineering Family Day:

MEET a test pilot, an astronaut, and engineers galore!
MAKE slime!
DISSECT household devices!
CATAPAULT a Ping Pong ball!
TEST paper airplanes in a wind tunnel!

Activities at the Festival may assist Scouts in fulfilling some requirements for the following Girl Scout badges:

Brownie Girl Scouts: Building Art, Science in Action, Listening to the Past

Junior Girl Scouts: Aerospace, Science Discovery, Discovering Technology, Sky Search, Careers

Scout groups may stop by the scout check-in table for a worksheet that has a full list of which activities correspond with badges at Discover Engineering Family Day.

For more information, contact the National Building Museum school and youth groups staff at 202-272-2448 or scouts@nbm.org.
