Cadette Corner: Eating for Beauty

Asalaamu Alaikum Cadettes,

cadette_eating-for-beauty_largeEating for Beauty badge steps:

  1. Download the food journal and log your meals for seven days. Bring it to the January 30 troop meeting.
  2. Bring a smoothie recipe. We will be picking a smoothie recipe to use at Camp Winona when we complete the final steps up your Eating for Beauty badge
  3. Dr. Ali-Huff will be at the January 30 troop meeting to discuss healthy eating and help the girls create meal plans for camping in February and the Journey Weekend in March.

If you need to finish your Peacemaker kit bring your supplies to the troop meeting on January 30 as well.

Cadettes have completed work to earn the Financial Literacy badge, aMaze Interact award, Archery patch, part one and two of the Girl Scout Way badge, and are finishing up the aMaze Peacemaker award.

Cadette journey and badge work is your responsibility, not the responsibility of your troop advisor or parent(s). Girls who prepare for meetings will be participating in badge work going forward. Great job and mumtaz to those girls working hard to make this scouting year successful!

“Explore the complex and intricate food system that brings what we eat from farm to fork. In sections devoted to growing, transporting, cooking, eating, tasting, and celebrating, the exhibition illuminates how our world eats and the future of food.

With opportunities to taste seasonal treats in the working kitchen, cook a virtual meal, see rare artifacts, and peek into the dining rooms of famous figures throughout history, visitors will examine the intersection of food, nature, culture, health, and history—and consider some of the most challenging issues of our time.”

Overnight Lodge Camping Meeting, Jan 23

Asalaamu Alaikum,

campWinonaPatchSisters Alia and Kesha will be facilitating a lodge camping meeting on Friday, January 23, 6PM at PGMA, for Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors participating in Overnight Lodge Camping at Camp Winona on Feb 13-15.

It is important for parents and girls to know what to bring and what not to bring when camping — especially girls who have never been on an overnight or camping trip with the troop. At this meeting girls will receive their supply list, find out where to find supplies, and understand when supplies are needed. Girls who have already bought supplies can bring them so they can be checked. Lack of attendance may affect a Cadettes’ ability to camp in the future.
