Troop 3480 Daisies to Plant Flower Garden at PGMA

Asalaamu Alaikum,

Daisy scouts had a great time at the Chesapeake Children’s Museum in Annapolis last month where they earned two more petals, mashaAllah. We plan to make the trip again next fall for new Daisies and Daisies that missed the opportunity.

This month, Daisies will work on petals: Courageous and Strong (Red), Make the World a Better Place (Rose), and Respect Myself and Others (Purple).

DaisyLarge

On May 17, the Daisies will be planting a flower garden! In order for your daughter to earn her petals for this activity she must attend the meeting on the 17th as well as:

  1. bring a potted flower plant (try Home Depot or Lowe’s and it should be a perennial ) that is any one of the colors of the Daisy petals
  2. be dressed to work outside
  3. bring gardening gloves (on sale at JoAnn Fabrics).

We want to end the scouting year with the Daisies completing as many petals as possible, inshaAllah. Some surprises will be given out at Troop 3480’s End of Year program in June.

We look forward to seeing all our girls at Troop 3480’s next troop meeting: May 17, 2013, 6:30 – 7PM.

Financial Literacy Workshop for Cadettes, Seniors & Ambassadors on May 18 at PGMA

girlsFinancialFuture

A fundamental component of a successful adult life is financial literacy — a practical skill that girls develop in Girl Scouts that will serve them for the rest of their lives. Financial literacy can help girls set financial goals and gain the confidence they need to ultimately take control of their own financial future. By developing money management skills early in life, girls learn how to increase their income, become responsible consumers, create a budget, build and manage credit, and save and invest for whatever’s next. In this financial literacy workshop, girls will cover budgeting, goal setting, career planning, planning for large purchases (such as a home, a car, vacations), giving back, investing, and entrepreneurship.

Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassador Girl Scouts are invited to attend this Financial Literacy workshop on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 3:30PM – 6PM at PGMA. The cost for Troop 3480 girls is $7. Other girl scouts are welcome to attend for $15. Limited spaces are available.

The workshop facilitator, Vanessa Bright, is founder of Financial Futures Now, an organization dedicated to educating America’s youth on the basic principles of financial literacy and providing them with the skills to become financially free and fiscally responsible adults.
