Brownies to Participate in KARMA Anti-Bullying Program on Oct. 26

karmaBullyingPatchThe Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3150 Presents the Anti-Bullying Program, KARMA: Kids Against Ridicule, Meanness and Aggression. Girls will

  • Learn about bullying,
  • Watch American Girl Chrissa’s story about being bullied,
  • Role play how to react to bullying, and
  • Make a poster about anti-bullying for display in the local community.

Brownies will earn a KARMA patch and a chance at prizes. Bring a brown-bag lunch. (No products containing nuts or nut products, please.)

Download the permission form and KARMA Workshop form. Parents must print out and complete both forms for this event and turn them in by the October 26 troop meeting. Incomplete paperwork will not be accepted.

Please email the KARMA workshop form to Sis. Kesha at keshabdulm [at] gmail [dot] com to save your spot by Oct 21st.

Troop 3480 to “Clean Up, Green Up” on Oct. 19

helpingHandsEveryone in Troop 3480 is invited to join the Juniors as they participate in “Clean Up, Green Up” at Templeton Elementary School in Riverdale, MD on October 19, inshaAllah.

Meet in front of the school, on the left side. Our troop will help pick up trash, weed and plant new flowers in the schools’ garden, dedicated to Madison Ann Hare, a child whose life ended when she was just five years old because of cancer.

Girls should be dressed ready to work in the dirt: bring your garden gloves and a small hand shovel just in case they run out of supplies. Please wear white hijab, vest and any type of pants or skirt. Also, bring a bag lunch or snack. Download the Clean Up, Green Up permission slip and turn it in at the October 11 troop meeting or via email to Sis. Kesha. Please see Sis. Yasmeen for more information.

Back to Troop 2013-2014: Friday, September 27, 6pm at PGMA

Everyone has been asking, and now you know that our first meeting of the 2013-2014 scouting year will be September 27, 6pm at PGMA.

MEETING TIME
Meetings are held every other Friday from 6 – 7:30pm at PGMA. Please make arrangements for drop off and pick ups in advance. Please do NOT pick up the girls early. Latecomers will not be let in after 6:20pm.  Parents who consistently pick up their girl(s) late will be contacted by Troop Managers for the inconvenience. While your daughter will not get the most benefit, it is okay to miss a meeting now and then.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
PGMA Girl Scouts follow PG County Schools’ inclement weather schedule. If school is out that day, there will be no meeting. Always double check the website for power outages and other happenings.

SNACKS
Due to meetings occurring during the regular dinner time all parents are encouraged to provide snacks for the meeting. Please see our designated Snack Mom, Sis Rolanda, to get on the schedule. We will need 3 parents per meeting to provide a healthy snack and/or juice/water for 30 girls. NO soda, no junk food (including store bought cookies, chips, gum, or candy), NO pork products, and NO nuts as we have girls with nut allergies. Please read ingredient labels carefully for pork products and nuts.

UNIFORMS
We encourage all girls to wear their uniforms at every meeting. Uniforms will most often be required for weekend trips at the discretion of the Troop Leader.
