On Your Own: Walk-About with Professional Women in Building, Nov 15

MDPWBlogoCome spend some time with five “Professional Women in Building” (PWB), a council of the Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA). Join us for a few hours on a walk-about around downtown Bethesda on the hunt for hidden art, tucked-away spaces, and special buildings. In the process, we will discuss how these things come to be.

What: Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital invites teen Girl Scouts to volunteer at La Feria de la Familia event organized by Telemundo Washington, DC. This event will provide you the opportunity to serve international communities and learn about multicultural service. You can earn Silver Trefoil Award hours by volunteering at this event!

Do you like the outdoors? Are you interested in volunteering at a day of camp on Saturday, November 22nd. We are taking girls in grades K-5 out to Camp Potomac Woods in Leesburg, VA to participate in a variety of outdoor activities including; archery, campfire building, s’mores, crafts, games and much more.

On Your Own: Celebrate Food Day 2014 with ECO City Farms, Oct 25

ECO City Farms is hosting Food Day 2014 on Saturday, October 25, 2-5PM at the Edmonston Farm, 4913 Crittenden Street, Edmonston, MD 20781

Food Day is a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. This event allows visitors to experience an urban farm to understand where food comes from, find out about local, affordable produce, and learn about healthy eating and active living.

ECO-city-farms-logo-mediumThey’ll have live music, farm tours, yoga, face and pumpkin painting and other activities for kids, cooking demonstrations/tastings and our famous smoothie bike. Not to mention free t-shirts! This event is free.
