Reminder: Troop Meeting Tomorrow, Friday, Nov 18

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be this Friday, Nov 18, 2016, 6 – 7:30PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:30PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

DAISIES

  • Daisies will begin planning their Take Action Project for their Clover Award. This will be the final component of the Between Earth and Sky journey that the daisies worked on at camp.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will continue working on their WOW Wonders of Water Journey and make their own terrariums. Girls should should bring their journey books.

JUNIORS

  • In preparation for Girl Scout Cookie season, Juniors will begin their Business Owner badge by exploring a business they might like to start someday, learning the basics of starting a business, and understanding the importance of customer research.
  • The Juniors are looking for business owners in the community who would like to share their experiences with the troop. Come talk to the girls about importance of customer service, discuss support that is available for small business owners, or discuss the challenge of running a small business. Please contact Sis Kori after the troop meeting or at girlScoutTroopMama [at] gmail [dot] com.

PARENTS

  • Pay your Girl Scout’s troop dues: $45 for Daisies, $60 for all other levels. If needed, dues can be paid in installments. Dues pay for badges and pins, help supplement some activities/trips, and also help support the troop web site, and other troop expenses. (Parents pay for fun patches.) For financial assistance contact your Girl Scout’s troop leader.
  • Financial assistance is also available for uniform items, Girl Guides and journey books. Contact your Girl Scout’s troop leader.

BROWNIES

  • This Friday, the Brownies will be making sit-upons for camp and to use anytime they need to sit on the ground. Sit-upons are a Girl Scout tradition. Please bring 2 newspapers, a strong, reusable plastic bag big enough for the newspaper to fit into, and duct tape to share. The more colorful bag and duct tape, the better.
  • Brownies should also bring their WOW journey book and completed word find take home sheet from last troop meeting.
  • GSCNC will pay $25 towards a girl’s dues and will also pay for uniform items (excluding vests), Girl Guides and journey books. If you would like financial assistance let us know this Friday. We will be sending in one combined financial assistance request.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will get ready for the Lodge Campout and continue working on their Camper badge: The girls will learn more about the camp site and demonstrate a new camp skill by building a model campfire.

CADETTES

  • Cadettes will decide which journey they want to accomplish during the campout next week.
  • Cadettes will also draft the shopping budget for the meals they are responsible for during the campout, and assign kapers for who will participate and how the menu will be executed at the camp out.

MULTIPLE LEVELS

  • Permission forms and payments are due at this Friday’s troop meeting for the Troop Lodge Campout, Nov 11 – 13.

Troop Meeting Today, Friday, Oct 21

DAISIES

  • Daisies will be working on the the Violet petal (Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout). Girls will read about friensdhip, participate in a skit, and do a craft to earn the Violet petal.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will have an introduction to their Wonders of Water journey. Please bring your WOW journey book if you have one.
  • The girls will have a discussion with the Juniors to decide what to prepare for breakfast while at the Troop Lodge Campout.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will decided what journeys, badges and activities they’d like to accomplish this year.
  • Juniors will also plan the breakfast menu with the Brownies for the Troop Lodge Campout.

MULTIPLE LEVELS

  • onesightlogo_vertical_tag_hr-300x300Our service unit is collecting donation of unused glasses for Sight Night at its Juliette Gordon Low celebration this month. While all girls can participate, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors who donate frames will receive one (1) service hour (Silver Trefoil service to council hours, or high school community service hours requirements). Please bundle frame donations with a rubber band and your name. This Friday is the only day to give your donations to Sis Kesha.

    Eyewear donations will be given to OneSight, an organization provides ongoing, top-quality vision care to adults and children around the world. While OneSight dispenses 100% new eyewear to patients, they do accept eyewear donations to be responsibly recycled. Donated eyewear is disassembled and sent to a third party recycler that utilizes the raw materials.(https://onesight.org) is an organization that refurbishes broken or old eye glass frames.
