Sojourning to Savannah Parent Meeting, May 15

jglBirthplacePatchAsalaamu Alaikum,

Join Sis. Kesha on Friday, May 15, 6 – 7PM, as she gives an overview of the 2017 trip to Savannah. This trip is for girls who will be Cadettes, Juniors and Brownies in 2017 inshaAllah (which includes girls who are currently first-year Cadettes, Juniors, Brownies and second-year Daisies).

At this meeting girls and parents will learn some Girl Scout history and review the Parent and Girl Scout contract, dates for deposits, and guidelines for participation. Remember that the first requirement for participation is to sell Girl Scout cookie with the troop for at least three Cookie Seasons. I can’t wait to share what we have in store for our girls.

Cadette Corner: Completing Eating for Beauty & Science of Happiness Badges

Asalaamu Alaikum Ladies,

Cadettes who were not able to go lodge camping can still complete the badges we finished during that weekend.

If you were present for Dr. Ali-Huff’s presentation:

  • Bring a smoothie to share and talk about its health beneficial. Make sure you bring small cups to share with the group. Tip: Know what’s in your smoothie: some people have allergies to certain fruit and nuts.
  • Create a meal plan for an overnight camping trip. The meal plan should include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Include meal that all girls can share — we have vegetarians, those that can not eat grains, and others with nut allergies). What are the meals? How will you prepare them: open fire, box oven, camp stove?

  • Attend a yoga class and tell the group how you enjoyed it and what poses you liked.
  • Share your happy: Describe how you made someone happy. Be specific and be ready to share your story with the group.
  • Keep the happy going: How do you relieve stress? Did you use the yoga poses you learned? Do you meditate or thikr?

We want everyone to enjoy the satisfaction of accomplishing their badge goals. Work smarter, not harder. Cadettes have until March 6 to present information for these badges.

Cadette & Junior Crime Museum Badge Programs, Apr 4

crimeMuseumLogoThe Crime Museum is offering badge programs that go above and beyond the basics and teach Girl Scouts the ins and outs of investigation. All the programs include admission to the Museum, so not only will girls earn a badge, but they will also learn and explore American History from a different perspective.

For the Cadette Special Agent badge program, girls will learn the secrets from the worlds of forensic science and criminal psychology. In the Junior Detective badge program, girls will learn the necessary skills and discover a new passion by becoming an official Crime Museum Detective.
