Juniors to Visit National Geographic Museum’s “Food: Our Global Kitchen” Exhibit, Feb 14

foodOurGlobalKitchenNatGeo
Girls will enjoy seasonal tastings, cook a virtual meal, and take a journey from farm to fork in this appetizing exhibit. Presented with Whole Foods Market, the Test Kitchen inside the exhibition will feature seasonal treats, samplings of chocolate, and demonstrations.

“Explore the complex and intricate food system that brings what we eat from farm to fork. In sections devoted to growing, transporting, cooking, eating, tasting, and celebrating, the exhibition illuminates how our world eats and the future of food.

With opportunities to taste seasonal treats in the working kitchen, cook a virtual meal, see rare artifacts, and peek into the dining rooms of famous figures throughout history, visitors will examine the intersection of food, nature, culture, health, and history—and consider some of the most challenging issues of our time.”

Troop Meeting Reminder, Jan 16

troopMeetingFriday

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be this Friday, January 16, 6 – 7:30PM, inshaAllah.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies are celebrating the completion of their WOW Journey with a rainbow tea party. Bring $5.
  • Brownie’s will be selling blanket throws as a part of their WOW Journey Action Project. This is a really special fundraiser because the Brownies made the blanket throws themselves. After learning about the importance of water, the girls decided that they would like to raise money to make a charitable donation for people who have minimal access to water. The proceeds from the fundraiser will be given to the Good Gift Foundation to help build wells in a third world country. HURRY! The blankets are going fast. They are only $12 each. With only six blankets left, they will be sold on a first-come first-served basis.

JUNIORS

  • Artist Zahra Yahya will be demonstrating art techniques. Girls who attended the Junior Drawing badge workshop should bring their work to share.
  • Bring $7 to purchase a GET MOVING! Journey book

CADETTES

  • Bring supplies to work on the peacemaker box or vision board project: shoe box or foam board, colored pencils, markers, magazines, scissors and glue.
