Reminder: Troop Meeting Tomorrow, Friday, Sep 28

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, September 28, 2018, 6 – 8PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:15PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

IMPORTANT: In order to attend troop meetings, parents must renew their Girl Scout’s registration, and turn in their Girl Scout’s health form and dues ($50/Brownie – Ambassador, $40/Daisy).

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will begin this year with the steps to receive the Girl Scout Way and Fair Play badges. Parents, please help them remember the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • For all uniforms, the Brownie crest is the bee and the troop numbers should be 3480.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will decide what badges, journey and activities they want to do this year.
  • Sis. Jaaserah will meet with Junior parents whose daughters would like to participate in Fall Product Sales.

SENIORS & AMBASSADORS

  • Welcome back to troop. Seniors & Ambassadors will be meeting at America’s Islamic Heritage Museum this Saturday, September 29, to help prepare for Day of Dignity on October 6, 9AM. Anyone needing service hours should let Sis Asma know if you plan to support.
  • Fall Product Sales have started as of September 17. Please turn in forms if you plan to participate.
  • Come to an Ice Cream Social for Cadettes, Seniors & Ambassadors this Saturday, September 29, 1 – 4PM at St. Matthias – Hughes Center. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate.

PARENTS

  • Parents should see the Snack Mom during the troop meeting to sign up to bring snacks for upcoming troop meetings inshaAllah.

Back to Troop, Sep 14

It’s time to get back to troop!

Friday, September 14, 2018, 6 – 8PM will be the first troop meeting of the 2018 – 2019 Girl Scout year inshaAllah. Troop meetings will be held every other Friday at PGMA, 6 – 8PM.

In order to attend troop meetings, parents must:

  1. Renew their Girl Scout’s registration for 2018 – 2019 with the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC),
  2. Turn in a completed and signed Girl Health History Form for 2018 – 2019,
  3. Pay troop dues: $50 for Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors & Ambassadors; $40 for Daisies (cash or check).

PARENTS: Renew your Girl Scout’s registration before the troop meeting! Don’t risk losing her spot in the troop.

Note: PGMA Girl Scouts will not be accepting any new girls, as all levels are currently at capacity.

We look forward to another amazing year of helping the daughters of our community become girls of faith, courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, May 11, 2018, 6 – 8PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:15PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

BROWNIES

  • This Friday, Brownies will be making sit-upons for Camp Day. Please bring two (2) newspapers and a sturdy, small, plastic reusable bag that is big enough to stuff with newspaper and sit on.
  • Brownie Cookie Mom, Sis. Nneka, will recognize the girls who participated in this year’s Girl Scout Cookie Program.
  • Brownies attending Camp Day this Saturday should bring their sit-upon, mess kit in a mesh bag, and leave their vests at home. Please be prompt; there are lots of fun activities planned for the girls and we don’t want them to miss a single thing.
  • Please turn in payments and permission forms for the Bugs Badge workshop (May 19).

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will finish the last steps of their Programming Robots badge inshaAllah. Girls should come with the Lightbot programming game already downloaded and installed on a smartphone, tablet or laptop.

SENIORS & AMBASSADORS

  • Upcoming Senior/Ambassador activities:
    • May 12: Sisterhood Take Action Project (Senior Journey) / Brownie Camp Day, 11AM – 7PM
    • July 16 – 20: Earth Defender Camp at Camp Aquasco. Girls can earn volunteer hours. Bus transportation is available.
    • Date TBA: Visit to National Arboretum Bonsai Tree exhibit.
    • Date TBA: Photography Seminar

MULTIPLE LEVELS

  • Early Bird Registration has begun for the 2018 – 2019 Girl Scout Year and will end on June 6. Re-register your Girl Scout online. A registration event at PGMA Girl Scouts will be announced soon.
  • Save the Date! The annual PGMA Girl Scouts Ramadan Lock-in will be Friday, May 25 inshaAllah.
  • There will be Summer in Savannah planning meeting for all Girl Scouts and chaperones this Friday, 8 – 9PM inshaAllah. We’ll discuss room assignments, agenda, transportation, drop-off and pick-up times, how to pack, food for the train ride, and uniform requirements. In addition, $175 final deposits will be collected.

PARENTS

  • Parents should see Snack Mom, Sis. Marnice, during the troop meeting to sign up to bring healthy snacks for upcoming troop meetings inshaAllah.
  • PGMA Girl Scouts is recruiting troop leaders who would like to be actively involved with building girls of faith, courage, confidence and character. Please connect with Sis. Alia if you are interested.
