Reminder: Troop Meeting Tomorrow, Friday, Dec 6

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, December 6, 2019, 6 – 8PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:15PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

DAISIES

  • Daisies will earn their Space Explorer badge by completing a space lesson in which they will learn about the phases of the moon and make a DIY constellation viewer.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will begin the legacy journey, A World Of Girls. In order to earn this journey girls must attend the next four troop meetings.
  • Girls should bring $25 to reserve their spot for the Cybersecurity course.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will start work on the Digital Photographer badge by learning about digital cameras from a guest speaker. Girls should bring their own digital camera (phone, tablet, laptop, or hand-held digital camera). Here are the steps:
    1. Learn about digital cameras from an expert
    2. Take tons of photographs!
    3. Edit three photos
    4. Make a digital photo project
    5. Share your photos

    When Juniors have earned this badge, they’ll know how to use a digital camera to create one-of-a-kind photos.

CADETTES

  • Cadettes will be completing their New Cuisines badge with our Culinary Tour (AKA Food Party!). Girls must coordinate with their group members on which of the dishes from steps 1 through 4 they will be bringing to share with their fellow Cadettes. Remember to bring enough for everyone to share; plan for between 15 and 20 people. Cadettes who were not at the last meeting when the groups were formed, can do all of the steps by themselves or with other Cadettes who were also not present at the last meeting.

PARENTS

  • Parents should see the Sis Maryam during the troop meeting to sign up to bring snacks for upcoming troop meetings inshaAllah.
  • If you still have not turned in the health form for your Girl Scout, please do so immediately. Also pay your Girl Scout’s troop dues ($50/girl). Troop dues pay for badges, supplies and cover/supplement activity fees.

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, November 15, 2019, 6 – 8PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:15PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

All troops will be gathering for a bridging ceremony in the pink musallah at 6:30PM. Bridging Girl Scouts should come prepared to share what they enjoyed about Girl Scouts last year and what they look forward to in the upcoming year.

DAISIES

  • Daisies will begin the first part of a two-part space lesson in which they will learn about the phases of the moon and make a DIY constellation viewer.

JUNIORS

  • Turn in permission forms and payments for the Horseback Riding badge at Camp Olympia (Nov 23).
  • Fall Product Sales have ended. Please turn in any money collected for orders.

CADETTES

  • Cadettes will be discussing how they will earn all of their remaining badges and patches for the year. Friday’s meeting will be the planning session on how they will earn the Special Agent badge. The steps to be completed are:
    1. Investigate investigation
    2. Reveal reality
    3. Try the science
    4. Key in to body language
    5. Practice the art of detection.

PARENTS

  • Parents should see the Sis Maryam during the troop meeting to sign up to bring snacks for upcoming troop meetings inshaAllah.

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, November 1, 2019, 6 – 8PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. Arrivals after 6:15PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will continue learning about Victorian-era Maryland by doing crafts and playing games children played in the 19th century. Parents should turn in permission forms for the Riley’s Lockhouse event.
  • Girls will also be introduced to their upcoming journey: A World of Girls.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors will get a jumpstart getting prepared for Girl Scout Cookie Season by starting work on their Customer Insights badge and Cookie Entrepreneur patch.

CADETTES

  • Cadettes will be working on completing the Outdoor Art Apprentice badge that they started while troop camping and working on an art project that they did not get to during troop camping. The steps to be completed for the Outdoor Art Apprentice badge are:

    Step 1 – research an artist inspired by nature and use her as an inspiration to create something of your own.

    Step 4 – be a nature photographer – photograph patterns and textures in nature.

    Cadettes who did not go camping can complete the steps 2, 3 and 5 on their own to earn the badge.

SENIORS & AMBASSADORS

  • Seniors and Ambassadors will work on the next section of the Cybersecurity badge. Girl should bring laptops to the troop meeting.
