Troop Meeting This Friday, May 8

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting will be this Friday, May 8, 6 – 7:30PM, inshaAllah. Take a moment to note in your calendars our final troop meetings of the 2014-2015 Girl Scout year:
May 22
June 5

DAISIES

  • InshaAllah, Daisies will be working on the Rose petal, “Make the World A Better Place.” The girls will have a card making project that will emphasize kindness.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies will be completing their Painting legacy badge by painting a mural.

JUNIORS

  • Juniors finish up the final steps of their Digital Photography badge inshaAllah. Girls will learn how to edit photos and make a photo collage. All girls should bring the digital camera they took their photos with at the last troop meeting and a USB cord in order to download their top five favorite photos.

CADETTES

  • Cadettes will be making first aid kits. In addition to a pair of scissors, girls should bring items that they think are important for a first aid kit to have.
  • Cadettes should send in proposals for Take Action projects.

MULTIPLE LEVELS

PARENTS

  • Please contact Sister Rolanda at this Friday’s troop meeting to sign up to bring snacks. Troop managers request that parents provide snacks for at least one troop meeting during the Girl Scout year.
  • Register your girl for the 2015-2016 Girl Scout year. Contact Sis. Kesha by June 5, the final troop meeting of 2014-2015, or register online. Early Bird registration ends June 30.

On Your Own: National Math Festival, Apr 18

NMFLogo300The first national festival dedicated to discovering the delight and power of mathematics in everyday life. On Saturday, April 18, experience mathematics like never before, when the first-of-its-kind National Math Festival comes to Washington, D.C. As the country’s first national festival dedicated to discovering the delight and power of mathematics, this free and public celebration will feature dozens of activities for every age —- from hands-on magic, and Houdini-like getaways, to lectures with some of the most influential mathematicians of our time.

The National Math Festival is organized by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) and the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution.

Daisy Trip to the National Zoo on Oct 26

Asalaamu Alaikum,
Zink the Zebra Patch
Troop 2480 Daisies will be going to the National Zoo on October 26, 2013, to work on Zink the Zebra patch, inshaAllah.

Girls should be dressed appropriately for the weather. They only need to wear their Daisy tunics over regular clothing.

We need parents for this trip. Girls new to the troop will need an accompanying parent to participate. Download the Daisy Zoo Trip permission slip and either email it to Sis. Kesha or bring it to the next meeting.

Note: This event will be cancelled if the government shutdown is still in effect.
