Brownie Making Games Badge at Montpelier Mansion, Dec 26

brownie_making-games_largeTour a Mansion, then go on a treasure hunt through the past. Or play a mystery game with a historical twist. Learn how kids had fun long ago and invent a new game using old toys. You can have fun without a computer, a deck of cards, or even a ball. Games are everywhere when you use your imagination to make them up. Try this badge, and you and your friends will never be bored again.

Note: Part of the program will be outside, weather permitting, so dress appropriately for the weather. No tagalongs, please.

General Parking: After turning off Muirkirk Road onto Montpelier grounds, go past big brown barn (Montpelier Arts Center), past circle with sculpture exhibit, and enter large parking lot. Park near one story brick building (Carriage House/ Little Teapot Gift Shop), at far end of parking lot. After parking, walk up brick path that leads to Little Teapot Gift Shop, turn left in front of gift shop, and follow paved path up to the mansion. Enter mansion from porch entrance with sign “Main Office” above door.

2015-2016 Investiture & Rededication Ceremony

The Troop 3480 Investiture and Rededication ceremony will be Friday, December 18, 2015 inshaAllah.

Investiture welcomes new members, girls or adults, into the Girl Scout family for the first time where girls receive their Girl Scout pin officially making them a Girl Scout. The Rededication is an opportunity for girls and adults to renew their commitment to the Girl Scout Promise and Law, including Girl Scouts who have recently transferred to Troop 3480 from other troops.

Each level’s program will take place in their individual room. Times of each level’s ceremony will be posted at sign-in. Girls should be on time and in full uniform. We kindly request that parents bring a dish for this special occasion.

Reminder: Troop Meeting This Friday, Dec 5

The next regularly scheduled troop meeting this Friday, Dec 4, 6 – 7:30PM, inshaAllah. Please be timely. There is a 15-minute grace period. Arrivals after 6:30PM are disruptive to troop meetings and strongly discouraged.

Troop 3480 meets every other Friday. The last troop meeting of 2015 will be Dec. 18 inshaAllah.

BROWNIES

  • Brownies should bring their Brownie Quest journey book and be prepared to share My Family Story.
  • Brownies will be completing their World of Girls take action project at the Saturday Blitz, Dec 5
  • Parents: please make sure that your Brownie’s journey work is up-to-date: they should have completed Discovering Me (page 49), Discovering Values (page 50), and Discovering Family (page 51).

  • December Community Service: This month PGMA Girl Scout will help PGMA Youth in their effort to support the 2nd Annual Project Warm Nights. While PGMA Youth are seeking donations of blankets, gloves, socks, hand warmers, coats and protein bars which will be donated at care packages to the homeless population in DC, Troop 3480 will be focusing on sock donations. Please donate new adult and children’s socks at the troop meeting this Friday inshaAllah. Let us work together to give together!

PARENTS

  • Pay your Girl Scout’s troop dues: $45 for Daisies, $60 for all other levels. If needed, dues can be paid in installments. Dues pay for badges and pins, help supplement some activities/trips, and also help support the troop web site, and printing expenses. (Parents pay for fun patches.) In order to camp, dues must be paid in full. For financial assistance contact Sis. Kesha.

    Note: Get your girl’s dues in before 18 December so that your Girl Scout can receive her pins and/or patches during the Investiture & Rededication Ceremony.
