Last Troop Meeting of 2013-2014 This Friday, 20 Jun

Asalaamu Alaikum,

The Girl Scout year has come to an end for Troop 3480. Our last meeting will be Friday, June 20, 2014, 6 – 7:30PM at PGMA, inshaAllah.

Daisies will end the year in costumes and will finish our last petal (for those 2nd year Daisies): Respect Authority. Daisies will also finish the year with crafts and cupcakes, sending our bridging Daisies off with a bang. Please see the last letter given out at last Friday’s meeting in regards to the Daisies Community Service/Take Action Project.

The Daisies need to finish their Take Action/ Community service project. The following items are needed for Daisies to complete their Take Action / Community Service project on June 20, 2014:

  • 4 Rubber tubs (not plastic)
  • 4 small cans of paint (blue, white, yellow, green)
  • 6 small paint brushes

We are still waiting for approval from the EC/Shura board to put our signs up for soccer field users to not litter. The tubs are where recyclable will go. Please email keshabdulm [at] gmail [dot] com with the item(s) you are bringing.

Brownies will also be having a costume party as they finish up their journey and receive the award this Friday.

Juniors are wearing costumes and participating in a field day. No costume? No problem. Juniors and their troop leaders have worked out a plan and know what to bring. If needed contact Sis. Yasmeen for information.

Cadettes will be having a costume party, too. Girls should come at 5PM to help set up. Girls should contact Rehana with questions.

Who is bringing what?
Ruwaida – paper plates and cups
Fatina – Little Ceaser Family Pack
Siham – candy and 2 real flower bouquets
Nusi – balloons and mini gift bags
Buthania – chips

Seniors GSAmbassadors
Seniors & Ambassadors should contact their leaders via email for information about their meeting.

The last day for Early Bird Registration for the 2014-2015 Girl Scout Year for girls already in Troop 3480 is this Friday as well. Spaces are limited. Don’t miss out. Click here to register.

troopMeetingFridayThe ice and snow has cleared and Troop 3480 is back to business, inshaAllah.

Attendance is key to your daughter’s Girl Scout experience. Here is what each troop will be up to at the next meeting:

  • Daisies will be working on the orange Mari Petal (Responsible for What I Say and Do) and baby blue Lupe Petal (Honest and Fair). Girls will bring home paperwork to complete to get the patch at the March 14 troop meeting. We want to finish up the petals so they can work on the Daisy Journey in the spring, inshaAllah.
  • Brownies are completing their Snacks badge. Review the Snacks badge blog post to review what to bring. Contact Sis. Naima with questions.
  • Juniors have a guest scheduled for their First Aid Badge.
  • Cadettes have a leadership workshop scheduled.
  • Seniors and Ambassadors have kickboxing scheduled. Girls should wear comfortable, athletic clothing and shoes. Parents must complete the high adventure permission slip and have a health form on file before the girls can participate.

Parents: Don’t forget to attend a Camping Meeting, a requirement in order for girls to participate in the service unit encampment this April. We will discuss logistics, cost, and equipment.

Lastly, Sis. Alia will be selling tickets to Prince George’s Muslim Association’s Fundraising Dinner, A Good Tree – 20 Years of Service! The dinner will be at 5:30PM on Sunday, March 23 2014 at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD, with speakers Imam Ahmad Azzaari, Imam Siraj Wahhaj and Dr. Altaf Hussain. Tickets are $30 before March 9. For more information call 301 459 4942, email frc [ar] pgmamd [dot] org or click here to buy tickets online.
